Please read the following rules carefully. They are intended to make the competition and the judging process balanced and equitable. Thank you for your interest in the annual Sign Design Contest!

  1. Only signs or graphics DESIGNED by United States Sign Council (USSC) member companies or an employee of member companies are eligible for entry.
  2. USSC member companies may submit any number of entries in any number of categories, but each must contain a separate entry form.
  3. DEADLINE: All entries must be uploaded to the USSC website by October 2, 2017.
  4. The sign must have been INSTALLED within 5 years of submission date.
  5. Upload only entry forms and necessary photos (see “Photo Requirements” section). Such materials as blueprints, laser prints, fabrication photos, etc., won’t be used.
  6. Photos must depict the sign, vehicle, or other design medium as they ACTUALLY EXIST. No digital enhancement of the photo, or digital superimposition of varied views are permitted.
  7. All national franchise signs are excluded unless a specific, original design application has been developed by the submitting USSC member company, and is so noted.
  8. No company involved in the judging may be an entrant.
  9. Awards will be presented at the USSC Trade Show and Educational Conference, Sign World International, at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, December 1, 2017.
  10. Entrant agrees that USSC may display entries at Sign World International, and may use entries, at its discretion, in any manner or for publicity or promotion as it sees fit. All entries become the property of the United States Sign Council, and will not be returned to entrant.

Entry Fee
The entry fee is $15 per entry.

Photo Requirements
Each entry must be uploaded directly to this web site as a JPEG image with a resolution no larger than 300 dpi.  No entrant identity, including digitally superimposed identification of the entrant is permitted on the photo itself.

Please include images that feature the entire graphic, as well as close-up shots that emphasize detail. Slides, color renderings or copies won’t be judged. For best results, USSC suggests hiring a professional photographer to shoot your work. All submitted images become the property of USSC, including all rights for reproduction.

If you have questions, call 215 785-1922 or e-mail us at [email protected].

Judging will be conducted by a panel of impartial volunteer judges. Judges reserve the right to remove a category from judging if it is deemed not to contain sufficient quality of design.

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. The submission’s overall appearance – – Is the submission visually appealing?
  2. Effectiveness – – Does the submission properly identify the client and provide an appropriate image? Is the submission readable and legible?
